Social Media Platforms refer to different websites and applications that are used by individuals for social networking, blogging, microblogging, photo sharing, and video sharing, etc.. These platforms are also used by businesses as sales and marketing tools to engage with their customers, sell products and services, as well as recruit and hire people.

Facebook

Facebook is currently the most widely used social media platform. Its users create profiles -- whether for personal or business -- where they upload photos and videos, and Facebook friends interact by liking, commenting, and sharing. Users can also send private messages to other users through Facebook's widely used messaging platform 'Messenger'

Instagram

Instagram is a photo and video-sharing social media platform. Individuals and businesses use Instagram to take, upload, edit, and post photos and videos for their followers. Users and followers interact through likes, comments, tagging, using hashtags, running a contest, and Direct Messaging. Instagram posts can be shared on other social media platforms such as Facebook, Tumblr, and Twitter.

YouTube

YouTube is an online video-sharing platform. Users can search for and watch videos posted by other users.  YouTubers are the users who create their own YouTube channels and upload videos to their channels. YouTuber videos can earn money through advertisements based on the number of subscribers, video view count, engagement, etc.. Other YouTubers make money through sales, workshops, crowdfunding, and teaching a course, among others.

Twitter

Twitter is a social networking "microblogging" service. 
A Twitter post is called a tweet. Tweets are posted in real-time and are limited to 280 characters that can include links, photos, and videos. 

LinkedIn 

LinkedIn is currently the world's largest professional networking platform.  It provides its members with professional connections and career opportunities. It is also for businesses looking to expand their network, find sales opportunities, and recruit and hire employees.
